In our major project this semester, students will explore the “War on Drugs” in Latin America and the U.S. Students will branch out in groups, follow their hearts and minds, and choose a specific subtopic of their own to focus on.  We want students to angle into the conversation through a mastery of their subtopic and create a podcast that shares research, insights, opinions, and interviews on the topic.  Simultaneously, students will emotionally process their findings, raise community consciousness, and advertise for their podcast by creating linoleum cut street art. Students will document their progress and process their emotions through snapchat story updates.

Essential Question:

How does the “War on Drugs” affect the people of Latin America and the U.S.?  Moving forward, how can we begin to solve our world’s drug situation in innovative, effective ways?
